In May 2017, Upton JFC launched Footie 4 Females. The first sessions were very successful and The Cheshire (formally County Offices) offered a Monday night slot for training. Jeanette Roe, McDonalds franchisee for Chester, donated coaching equipment and Cheshire FA offered financial support with Women’s Recreational Funding.
Since this start, Footy 4 Females has engaged female players of all abilities and levels of fitness; some have played football previously and others haven’t exercised for a long time (if at all).
The 2017/18 season is now well under way, with club coach, Niall Hickey, taking the sessions which are a mix of football and fitness (approx 30 mins of circuits and 30 mins 5/6/7 a side). The age of the players range from 18 to 55, so everyone is welcome. Fees are £3.00 per week on a pay and play basis, so come along or contact organiser Lindsay Carrington by email at firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
The “team” has played in some friendly tournaments and done themselves proud. It’s all about the fun.
